SOS Staff Recruiters Creating Memorial Day Memories

Creating lasting memories for Memorial Day can be a meaningful and enjoyable experience.  Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of the upcoming holiday.

Honor and Remember

Visit a Cemetery or Memorial – Pay your respects to fallen soldiers by visiting a local cemetery or war memorial.  Many communities have events or ceremonies to honor veterans.

Create a Tribute – Make a scrapbook or photo album dedicated to family members or friends who have served in the military.  You can include stories, pictures and mementos that continue the legacy of your connections.

Family Activities

Family Picnic – Organize a picnic at a local park or in your backyard.  Traditional Memorial Day foods like burgers, hot dogs and apple pie keep the spirit of the holiday alive.

Cooking Together – Prepare a special meal together as a family, perhaps using favorite recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Outdoor Games – Planning a day of outdoor games such as flag football, frisbee or a scavenger hunt is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time with family and friends.

Create Special Traditions

Memory Jar – Create a memory jar where everyone can write down their favorite memory of the day or a special thought about Memorial Day. Read them together at the end of the day or save them for next year.

Time Capsule – Put together a time capsule with items from the day such as photos, mementos, and notes. Plan to open it on a future Memorial Day to reminisce.

These activities will help create meaningful and enjoyable memories with your family, friends and clients for Memorial Day while honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.
